ABSTRACT
Final Year Project (FYP) thesis is an important resource for students. The thesis can guide them in developing new FYP project to accomplish their study. Current system of searching the FYP thesis is done manually. Therefore, students are having a hard time in searching the FYP thesis that has similar title or similar keywords. Thus, this project propose an Intelligence Searching System for undergraduate students that help students to search the relevant thesis according to their preferences. The features such as Term Frequency-Inverse Document Frequency (TF-IDF) will be used in this project. The TFI-DF is a numerical statistic that is intended to reflect how important a word is to a document in a collection. By using this technique, the system will classify the documents into categories insides the documents themselves. Hopefully, the proposed project will help students in finding their relevant FYP thesis.

OBJECTIVES
The purpose of this system is
# To design a web-based system called Intelligence Searching System (ISeS) for undergraduate students using TF-IDF (information retrieval),
# To develop the web-based system for efficient searching of FYP thesis
# To test the effectiveness of the web-based system.
METHODOLOGY
FRAMEWORK AND ALGORITHMThe framework for ISeS for undergraduate student shows the student who wishes to search FYP thesis can access directly in ISeS for undergraduate student online. Which the search is generated automatically using TF-IDF. Student also is able to book the FYP thesis. In order to book or borrow the FYP thesis, student needs to login the system. Staff/Admin needs to login in order to access this system. After that, he will be able to manage his account, manage FYP thesis, thesis booking. Staff also can generate report on the students who borrow the thesis.

TECHNIQUETf-idf stands for term frequency-inverse document frequency, and the tf-idf weight is a weight often used in information retrieval and text mining. This weight is a statistical measure used to evaluate how important a word is to a document in a collection or corpus. The importance increases proportionally to the number of times a word appears in the document but is offset by the frequency of the word in the corpus. Variations of the tf-idf weighting scheme are often used by search engines as a central tool in scoring and ranking a document's relevance given a user query. |
